Taking the "Redwood Highway" we drove through massive, misty groves where the size of the trees lining the road defies comprehension.
After a break at the Humbolt Lagoons SP, we drove through Eureka, regretting a sleeping baby while starring longingly at the Lost Coast Brewery. From Eureka, the road turns inland, encouraging one to take the detour through the incredible Avenue of the Giants, a 31-mile, slow-going portion of the old Highway 101 which runs parallel to the freeway.
We ended up at the Burlington Campground located next to the amazing visitor's centre in the middle of a prehistoric stand of virgin redwoods.
