Jessie M Honeyman SP to Crescent City (CA)

Sticking to 101 South, we drove through dunes and rainforest, across the historical McCullough Memorial bridge into North Bend and Oregon's "Bay Area", taking a break in Coos Bay (hometown of Steve Prefontaine) to check out the sadly rained-out Fun Festival. Stopping for gas, we learned that there is no self-serve gas in Oregon and that people everywhere complain about their "winter" weather.

As this point in the drive, ocean-sightings were rare until just past Battle Rock and into Humbug Mountain SP which offered some stunning views. The route took us past the historical markers for Cape Sebastian and Pistol River, across the highest bridge in Oregon (Thomas Creek), through Brookings and into California.

In light of the rainstorm, we decided to skip the planned state park and spend the night at a Californian Walmart enjoying a bottle of their finest $2 "Lucky Duck" red wine.
